Text messaging is the most common and most used application on a cell phone. As of Q3 2008, 203 million of the 263 million U.S. wireless subscriber lines paid for text messaging either as part of a package or per transaction.

 

The purpose of a mobile marketing program is to establish a database of mobile users for the distribution of offers.  Additionally these programs create interaction between the brand and consumer driving them to other marketing efforts and more importantly, repeated purchases. 

 

Key aspects of the program include:

 

•          Allowing customers to sign up for text offers from their mobile device

•          Customers can also print coupons to drive them to additional purchases.

•          Weekly offers will be sent to the mobile database:  Technology allows the Client to manage the program themselves if they choose.  Offers can be broad or segmented (i.e. Dallas only) based on the program.

•          Streaming applications can be downloaded by users for use on smart phones.

•          Allow consumers to earn points toward free merchandise by text or online using a unique code on their receipt:  Caller ID allows the tracking of the points based on cell phone numbers.

•          Location-based application that promotes client and client offers:  The phone will send offers on the phone’s screensaver when you are close to a Client’s location and provide directions to that location.
